Recruiting Process
Campus hiring process
We actively recruit in the late summer / early fall for positions starting in the following January, May or September. Our representatives attend recruiting events at several university campuses through the year. We are also registered with the recruiting offices at University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University and attend various recruiting events in the fall.
If you are interested in articling with James Stafford, please visit us at any of these events.
All selected candidates are invited to our office for an interview. The interviews are approximately 1 hour long. At these interviews, candidates will have the opportunity to meet senior personnel and current articling students.
Before submitting your application
Resume should be in Word or Adobe® PDF format that can be printed without any adjustments.
Emails should only be used to attach your resume (or CACEE form) and covering letter. Please do not write detailed information in your application emails.

Interview Tips
Do your homework
We are impressed when candidates have taken the time to do some research and learn about us. Being prepared will also reduce your anxiety.
Make an impact
It is not always what you say, but how you present yourself that makes an impression. Be sure to shake hands firmly and maintain eye contact. Sit up and stay focused.
Be confident
An interview is a good measurement of how you handle pressure. Maintain an appropriate level of professionalism without being unapproachable. Be yourself.
Ask questions
Let us know that you are interested. It may also prove you have done your homework. Have a list of questions prepared before the interview.
Get clarification
If you do not understand a question, ask us to repeat it.
Follow up
It is good etiquette to thank interviewers for their time. Make sure you get a business card from the person or people that you meet with and send a thank you letter to each one as soon as possible after the interview. This will also let us know that you liked what you heard and you want us to keep you in mind.
